Client services start here. From the initial contact to event day, we want your time with SCE to
be seamless, fun, and stress-free. Read on to get the ins & outs of working with us.
Step 1: Are we a good fit?
All event inquiries are submitted as a questionnaire via our website. Upon review of the event questionnaire, a 30-minute phone consultation is held. During the consultation our services, packages and contract are discussed and reviewed.
Step 2: Time to Book
A date is only confirmed once both a signed contract and 50% non-refundable retainer fee has been paid. Once both have been received, an estimated planning timeline/calendar is sent to the client. The client is then tasked to submit their availability calendar for the next 45-90 days.
Step 3: Read? Set. Plan + GO!
During the planning process, vendor appointments are scheduled and internal planning & organization begins. Bi-weekly team meetings are held to distribute duties and to discuss the planning process. Once the event day arrives, the Socially CHIC team is in full execution mode!
How many years have you been in business?
Socially CHIC Events by Monica Renee began planning events for hire in 2009; however we have officially been in business since 2013.
What experience do you have?
Monica Renee has more than 10 years of wedding and event planning experience. I have been employed as a Catering Manager, Director of Sales and Event Planner with well-known companies in the hospitality industry such as Martins West, Intercontinental Hotels and Department of State.
Do you provide references, testimonials, and pictures?
Yes, references are available upon request and testimonials and photos can be viewed during our consultation.
Is wedding planning your part-time or full-time job?
While I do work a 9-5pm job my position provides flexibility which does not result in me being in the office on a full time basis. I treat every wedding as if it was my own and dedicate my full and undivided attention to each couples unique needs.
Do you work alone, with a partner, or with a team?
While I am the sole event planner of Socially CHIC Events by Monica Renee, I employ a team of 4 assistants and collaborate with several amazing event designers located in the DMV area.
How many weddings do you plan at a time?
No more than 4 full service weddings per year. Only 1 wedding per weekend is booked.
What services do you provide?
Day of, partial and full wedding planning services are provided. Event coordination for pre-wedding, post wedding services and all other celebratory parties/events.
Do you have package plans?
We have several packages to choose from including à la carte services. We also have great relationships with many different vendors that offer special pricing for clients that we refer.
Do you meet with vendors and validate vendor contracts and ‘Day of’ commitments?
Yes, validating vendor contracts and commitments is a service included in my planning packages.
Can you work with a limited budget?
Yes, I can work with a realistic limited budget and will provide suggestions to make the most out of the budget. Event planning involves a lot of details
What is your attire for the wedding day and other events?
My attire is Socially CHIC of course (business classy), clean nails, flat shoes for fast walking and running, professional make up.
What is your policy on last minute changes, emergencies and or cancellations?
Our policies are outlined in the contract. In the event of a cancellation, the deposit is non-refundable.
What payment methods do you accept?
PayPal, Square Cash, Square, Credit card, Cash, Certified Checks, and Money Order. Personal checks are NOT accepted. There are no exceptions.

Can you give me an example of when you had to be quick thinking and avert disaster for a wedding or event that you planned?
The groom left the wedding ring in the hotel room which was 15 minutes away from the ceremony venue. He did not realize it until he opened the ring box 5 minutes before the ceremony began. I gave him my wedding band to use during the ceremony and sent my assistant to the hotel to retrieve the wedding ring so it was available in time for photos at completion of the ceremony.
